The plot begins with spyro chasing Cynder in the jungle near the temple and asks her to not go away revealing that he does really like her, and then cynder says that she does not want to hurt spyro and leaves. Just a little while after she has left the Dragon Temple is under attack by an army of apes. After spyro stops the attack, Ignitus the master of all the dragons and the master of fire, sends spyro to fulfill his dream and find the tree he saw in his dream while Ignitus looks for some help against the ape army. As spyro is searching for the tree he also is searching for mysterious dragon known as the Chronicler who has asked spyro in a vision to come and find him. 

As spyro is searching in his quest to find the tree and dragon he gets caught by a group of pirates and is taken upon their ship, and that’s where this one begins. In this game the new antagonist is Gaul the king of the apes who intends on awakening the dark master on the Eternal Night of Darkness. The game play is similar to the other spyros. Spyro must get to the end of each level and defeat the boss at the end of the level, Spyro will learn breath attacks from the chronicler, and the breaths are a tool for demolishing enemies. They will come as different elements: earth, fire, electricity, and ice. Spyro is able to do furies, wich are elemental magic. Spyro has to obtain a certain amount of purple gems to be able to use these skills. Spyro is able to learn the skill Dragon Time, witch allows him to slow down time to get to places that he could not before and to defeat enemies faster and easier. It is the 2nd game in “The Legend of Spyro” game trilogy.
